Greg Pinkalla
Chairman & Chief Executive Officer

Greg joined Fairfield in 1994 to start an acquisition/redevelopment business to complement Fairfield’s national development program. He built a team that has purchased 544 apartment properties with over 146,500 apartment homes representing more than $17.9 billion in acquisition and redevelopment investment. Today he oversees all aspects of Fairfield’s development, acquisition and management businesses. Prior to joining Fairfield, Greg was a partner at Post Oak Partners, a national real estate investment banking firm. There he was responsible for originating and placing institutional real estate debt and equity capital. He was also previously employed in the real estate groups of Prudential Insurance Company in Chicago and Citibank in New York City. Greg received his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin and his MBA from Northwestern University. He serves on the Executive Committee of the National Multifamily Housing Council, is a Multifamily Council member of the Urban Land Institute, and is a member of the Multifamily Leadership Board of the National Association of Home Builders.

Jon A. MacDonald
Executive Vice President & General Counsel

Jon joined Fairfield in 2009 and is responsible for managing the transactional and legal affairs of Fairfield, including corporate, operational and litigation matters. Prior to joining Fairfield, Jon served as general counsel for real estate based companies including Downey Financial where he served in various capacities, including executive vice president, general counsel, chief operating officer, and corporate secretary. Jon also served as president of Downey’s real estate development company and was a member of its board of directors. Jon started his career with Paul Hastings LLP practicing transactional real estate law. He received his undergraduate degree from Boston College and JD from Duke University.

Shant Koumriqian
Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer

Shant joined Fairfield in 2016 and is responsible for accounting, reporting, finance, tax, treasury, compliance, risk management, human resources and information technology. Prior to joining Fairfield, Shant served as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer at American Residential Properties, Inc. (NYSE: ARPI), a single-family rental REIT, from 2012 to 2016. While at ARPI, Shant successfully raised $1.4 billion in debt and equity capital, including an initial public offering in 2013 and conducted a strategic review process culminating in a public stock merger with American Homes 4 Rent (NYSE: AMH) in 2016.   From 2008 to 2012, Shant served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of MPG Office Trust, Inc. (NYSE: MPG), a Class A Office REIT with a 20 million square foot portfolio, after serving in various capacities since 2004.  Prior to MPG, Shant spent a total of nine years in real estate practice groups, first at Arthur Andersen LLP and then at Deloitte & Touche LLP, where he was a senior manager, serving public and private real estate companies. Shant received a BA in Business Administration, cum laude, from California State University, Los Angeles.

Kim Bender, CPM ®
Executive Vice President – Head of Property Management

As the head of property management, Kim is responsible for Fairfield’s multifamily portfolio of 40,800 units in 36 markets nationally. She also oversees many of the support services for the property management group including strategic operations, marketing and training. Kim joined Fairfield in 2001 as a regional supervisor and has held several key leadership roles at the company. She has more than 30 years of industry experience at both privately held management companies and REITS, as well as managing conventional and affordable apartment communities. Kim began her career in property management at Hall Financial Group, Inc. Subsequently, she worked with National Housing Partnership Incorporated (NHP) and oversaw assets for The NHP Foundation. As a result of the AIMCO purchase of NHP, Kim began supervising AIMCO properties in both Texas and California where she held various management positions. Kim received her education at North Lake College and holds her NCP-E (National Compliance Professional- Executive), CAPS (Certified Apartment Property Supervisor) and a CPM designation with the Institute of Real Estate Management. She also has a Real Estate license in the state of California.

Richard Boynton
Senior Vice President - Acquisitions

Richard is responsible for overseeing the sourcing, underwriting and negotiations of apartment property acquisitions for Fairfield. Richard has been a part of Fairfield’s acquisition program since its inception in 1995 and has been directly involved in the acquisition of over $15.0 billion of our multifamily properties. Richard graduated from the University of California, Berkeley where he earned a BS in economics.

Andy Jennings
Senior Vice President - Redevelopment Construction

Andy is responsible for the administrative aspects and execution of the redevelopment construction projects throughout the country. Activities include oversight of all physical due diligence, ongoing employee training and monitoring of commitments, budgets and schedules. Prior to joining Fairfield, Andy was a construction project manager with Etkin-Skanska, a general contractor based in the state of Colorado. Andy received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado.

Tommy Brunson
Executive Vice President - Development

Tommy has overall responsibility for the development and entitlement teams for Fairfield.  Tommy joined Fairfield in 2008, during his tenure he has been involved in site selection, site planning, property-specific development decisions and works in tandem with Fairfield’s capital markets group to raise debt and equity capital. He also participates in asset management and strategic planning the firm and is a member of its Investment Committee. Tommy has over 20 years of industry experience. Prior to joining Fairfield, he was vice president for development and acquisitions at Lincoln Property Company in Atlanta. He began his career with Harbert Management Corporation. Tommy graduated with a BS in business administration from Birmingham-Southern College and a master’s degree in real estate development and finance from Columbia University in New York. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute, National Multi Housing Council (NMHC), Real Estate Investment Advisory Council (REIAC) and past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Atlanta Apartment Association (AAA).

Brendan Hayes
Senior Vice President, Bay Area, San Diego, Portland & Seattle

Brendan is one of Fairfield’s senior development officers in the Western United States and is responsible for the company’s development activities in the San Francisco Bay Area, San Diego, Portland, and Seattle markets.  Brendan joined Fairfield in 1997 and has been directly involved in the development of over 16,000 apartment homes and 75,000 square feet of commercial space with a total development cost of over $2.8 billion.  His most recent development activity at Fairfield has been focused on infill and transit oriented communities, urban master plans, and mixed-use communities.   Prior to joining Fairfield, he worked for Bank of America as a senior real estate appraiser.  Brendan graduated from San Diego State University with a BS in Business/Real Estate. He has ongoing professional affiliations with Urban Land Institute, Building Industry Association, and the International Council of Shopping Centers.

Larry Scott
Senior Vice President, Southern CA & Denver Regions

Larry Scott oversees the company’s multifamily development activities throughout the western United States for Fairfield Residential. Larry has over 30 years in the residential investment industry, including extensive development, acquisition, and asset management experience of multifamily rental and for-sale communities. Prior to joining Fairfield in 2011, he was a managing director of Urban Housing Group (a subsidiary of The Marcus & Millichap Company) overseeing development in the western United States. Larry has also held senior executive positions at AvalonBay Communities Inc., where he led the company’s residential development efforts throughout southern California and was responsible for developing over 2,400 apartment homes; Archstone Communities Trust, and Lincoln Property Company, where he was involved in developing and acquiring over 10,000 multifamily units. Larry received his BA in accounting from California State University, Fullerton. He is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive) and a licensed California real estate broker. His professional affiliations include the Urban Land Institute and the National Multi-Housing Council.

Brent A. Ball
Senior Vice President - Development

As Senior Vice President – Development, Brent oversees national asset management for Fairfield’s development platform. He plays an integral role in the underwriting of all prospective investments and is responsible for strategic planning and execution of Fairfield’s development assets from the beginning stages of development through disposition.

Brent joined Fairfield in 2001 to launch the asset management platform for its development program.  During his 17-year tenure with Fairfield, Brent has held a number of positions including National Head of Asset Management, Head of Eastern New Construction Dispositions, Condominium Formation/sales, Acquisitions and National Director of Property Management. Prior to joining Fairfield, Brent served as Vice President of Asset Management at The Archon Group, a Goldman Sachs company. At Archon, he led the business activities of a 30,000-unit apartment and mixed-use portfolio throughout the western, central and southwestern United States with an emphasis on acquisitions, asset management, reporting and asset repositioning. Brent is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin.

Perry Raptis
Executive Vice President – Head of Construction

Perry is responsible for all designs, project coordination and construction activities at Fairfield and has been with the company since 1985. Since joining Fairfield, Perry has been involved in developing garden and high-density urban apartments, student housing, mid-rise and high-rise residences, condominiums and single family subdivisions. Perry has been involved in 353 development projects with the company and he has project experience in 21 states and the Washington, D.C. metro area. Perry started his development and building career with Trammell Crow Residential as an estimator/purchasing agent and was soon promoted to project manager. Perry graduated from The University of Texas at Arlington with a BBA in business administration.

Michelle Lord
Senior Vice President - Capital Markets

Michelle joined Fairfield in 2002 and is responsible for managing equity and debt relationships for the company. During her tenure at Fairfield, Michelle has negotiated and closed over $8.0 billion in multifamily debt and equity with major banking institutions, life companies and institutional investors. Before joining Fairfield, Michelle was vice president in capital markets with Security Capital Group. During her tenure there, she was responsible for the initial Asia market entry research for Prologis and held several positions including office manager in Tokyo, Japan, vice president and assistant to the chairman of Prologis Trust, and associate Archstone Trust. Prior to this, Michelle was a trader on the European and Asian currency desk with Asahi Bank, Tokyo. Michelle received her BA from Smith College and her MBA from the University of Chicago Booth. Michelle is a member of Urban Land Institute and serves on the Transit Oriented Development Council.

Doug Ness
Senior Vice President - Capital Markets

Doug joined Fairfield in 2002 and is responsible for managing equity and debt relationships for Fairfield’s Eastern Division.  During his tenure at Fairfield, Doug has negotiated and closed over $5 billion in multifamily debt and equity with national and regional banking institutions, life companies and institutional investors.  Prior to joining Fairfield, Doug spent 13 years in the commercial real estate lending business with Bank One and KeyBank. He is a graduate of Bowling Green State University where he received a BS in Finance.

Christopher Ruffolo
Senior Vice President - Asset Management & Construction Management

Chris leads Fairfield’s asset management division nationally, and is based in San Diego, CA. His territory includes all acquisition assets for the company throughout the U.S.  He is responsible for overall portfolio oversight, establishment and implementation of the business planning, coordination of the project redevelopments, investor relations and asset management planning in both acquisitions and dispositions. Prior to joining Fairfield in 2006, Chris worked in various operational and portfolio management roles for Archstone in the Mid-Atlantic, and Baird and Warner Management Group in Chicago, IL. A native of Chicago, Chris attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL.

Lisa Haring
Senior Vice President - Portfolio Management

Lisa is a Senior Portfolio Manager and responsible for managing the Fairfield California Housing Fund, a joint venture with the California State Teachers’ Retirement System, as well as the portfolio manager of Fairfield’s development joint ventures with other institutional investors. As portfolio manager, Lisa serves as a relationship manager of the firm’s investors, acts as a fiduciary on behalf of each fund, manages investment performance and is responsible for fund compliance and reporting. Since joining Fairfield in 2001, Lisa has been involved in new construction asset management, securing new construction loans and subscription credit facilities and managing the Fairfield California Housing Fund. Prior to Fairfield, she was with Deloitte & Touche LLP as a senior auditor in assurance and advisory services where she worked with a diverse client base, including publicly traded financial services and real estate companies. Lisa obtained her BS from Miami University, Ohio, and is a licensed CPA in the state of Illinois. She is a member of Pension Real Estate Association (PREA) and a member of PREA’s Development Affinity Group.

Trey Stafford
Senior Vice President - Portfolio Management

Trey is a Senior Portfolio Manager and responsible for managing Fairfield’s real estate investment funds and capital raising efforts on the Funds. He oversees investment performance, implementation of the Fund’s business strategies with Fairfield’s various business units and investor relationships for Fairfield funds. Trey joined Fairfield in 2005 and has been involved in the multifamily housing industry for 20 years. He is the Portfolio Manager of Brookfield Fairfield U.S. Multifamily Value Add Fund I, II and III, which together have assets of over $3.0 billion and the Fairfield U.S. Multifamily Core Plus Fund. Prior to joining Fairfield, he was chief financial officer for SBM Financial, a public investment company in Washington, D.C. Trey graduated from James Madison University in Virginia with a BA in business administration.

Gino Barra
Senior Vice President - Dispositions

Gino joined Fairfield in 1995 and handles property disposition activities nationwide. He is responsible for asset sales including underwriting, marketing, contract negotiations, closing and the overall management of the sales process. Since 1995, Gino has managed the sale of 527 properties (approximately 148,000 apartment homes) totaling $19.7 billion in sales for Fairfield and its investors. Before he joined Fairfield, Gino was with the Balcor Company as first vice president of asset management. He has over 41 years of experience in the real estate industry and received his BA in Urban Studies in 1976 from Trinity College.

Beth Ann Coleman
Chief Compliance Officer

Beth Ann has over 20 years of compliance experience supporting investment advisers and financial service companies. She earned her M.B.A. in Financial Economics from Pace University, New York and her B.A. in Political Science with a concentration in International Relations from the State University of New York at Binghamton.  Prior to joining Fairfield, she was Head of Employee Support Group for Deutsche Bank Securities Inc. in Jacksonville, FL and Deputy Chief Compliance Officer of Allianz Global Investors U.S. Holdings LLC in San Diego.

Patrick Schreffler
Chief Information Officer

Patrick has over 25 years of experience in Information Technology, aligning business strategy with IT solutions, sharpening operational performance and driving global standardization.  Prior to joining Fairfield, he served as Executive Director of Information Technology at Cepheid, a molecular diagnostic company.  Patrick also served as Vice President of Information Technology Operations and Support of International Rectifier, a power management semi-conductor manufacturer, where he developed a global information security organization to protect intellectual property, stabilized the IT infrastructure, reduced cost and ensured regulatory system compliance.  From 1999 to 2008, Patrick served as Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at CBRE, serving as the steward of a $32M annual IT budget and guiding the activities of 150 IT professionals.

Paul Kudirka
Senior Vice President - Acquisitions

Paul is responsible for managing Fairfield’s debt relationships and Fairfield’s affordable housing portfolio. Paul joined Fairfield in 2001, where he has sourced over $5 billion in debt from a variety of sources including agencies, insurance companies, conduit, HUD and Tax-Exempt Bonds. Prior to Fairfield, Paul worked at Kennedy Wilson in multifamily acquisitions and at Pricewaterhouse Coopers as a financial consultant. Paul received his undergraduate degree as well as his MBA and MPH from UCLA.
