Supports Unhoused Youth Education in San Diego in Collaboration with SDSU Athletics
SAN DIEGO, CA – October 8, 2025 – Fairfield proudly sponsored Back-to-School Night at the Monarch School Project on Thursday, September 18, 2025, contributing a corporate financial gift and significant volunteer hours to the local nonprofit dedicated to empowering unhoused youth and their families through trauma-informed, strength-based education and support services. More than 35 of its San Diego-based associates showed up to set up the event, fill gift bags, serve food, and interact with the students and families. Annually, Monarch supports about 650 students, caregivers, and alumni.
This marks Fairfield’s first philanthropic partnership with the Monarch School Project and its first collaboration with San Diego State University’s Aztecs Going Pro program, which donated prizes—including three Segway scooters—that students can win through a raffle based on academic performance and attendance throughout the year. SDSU student-athletes also attended to socialize with Monarch students, modeling academic success and fostering ambitions for higher education.
“We’re honored to collaborate with SDSU Athletics and the student-athletes to support Monarch’s mission to create a sense of belonging and opportunity for youth in our local community,” said Trey Stafford, Head of Capital Markets at Fairfield, who co-chaired the effort. “Fairfield’s purpose is to create better living by providing housing nationwide, and this event was more than a donation—it was a hands-on effort by our team to give back locally to a resilient population facing significant barriers. From donating everyday essentials that are so desperately needed to serving each plate with a smile, I’m proud of my colleagues’ passion and eagerness to participate.”
"It was great partnering with Fairfield and the Monarch School Project to bring this event to life,” said Xavier Hamlett, student-athlete at San Diego State University and a driving force behind this collaboration. “We enjoyed spending time with the students, families, and staff, and we are happy to play a small role in supporting such a great cause."
The event, held in the Monarch School Program’s gymnasium at 1625 Newton Ave in San Diego, welcomed students and families for an afternoon of celebration, resources, and community connection over a catered meal with live music. Fairfield’s involvement reflects its broader commitment to community engagement and local impact. The multifamily real estate investor, developer, and property manager encourages its associates nationwide to volunteer in their local communities through its Creating Kindness initiative and dedicated paid Volunteer Time Off.
With headquarters in San Diego and a national footprint, Fairfield continues to invest in initiatives that align with its values and support the neighborhoods where its associates live and work.
