Top Apartment Community Amenities for 2022

February 2, 2022

We recently unveiled the latest trends for top apartment amenities to help make it easy to shop for your next apartment. We also know that “at-home” feeling extends past your immediate living environment… That’s why we are also dedicated to providing top-flight apartment community amenities to enhance your living experience.

Whether you want to connect to the internet or connect with your neighbors, you can always find a Fairfield community that provides the opportunity for one or the other – or both. Let’s look at some resident experiences that highlight the top apartment community amenities in 2022. (We’ve changed the names to protect privacy, but we’ll shoutout a few communities along the way!)

Apartment Community Amenity Trends

Co-working Lounges

For Amanda, transferring to a new job in a new city where she didn’t have any connections seemed a bit unsettling – especially since much of her work would be from home with only occasional trips to the corporate office. She found a Fairfield apartment with a built-in desk in a community that also offers co-working lounge, so she can get out of her apartment without sacrificing her work. She uses the small private or larger conference meeting areas as needed and loves the complimentary Wi-Fi in the common areas. Connectivity is a must-have apartment community amenity!

Community Events

We know that your apartment isn’t just a place to store your stuff, it’s your home and a place to create community. We’ve found that the best way to do that is to offer personalized living experiences through community events that current residents want to share with their friends and families. Whether it’s on the rooftop lounge, in the club room, or anywhere else at the community, our community managers have been known to host some lively resident events for the entire community to enjoy.

“Alivia is equipped with luxury amenities that encourage our residents to utilize all amenity spaces here as each of them offers something different. For example, our social lounge gives you the freedom to play a game of pool, entertain guests, or pull up your laptop and finish some work, all in the same space. Our state-of-the-art fitness center is open 24 hours, making it easy for our residents to incorporate their fitness routine to their schedules. Our resort style pool and spa also allow you to free yourself from any tension and dive into your worry-free leisure time.”

—Zara Kouyoumdjian, Community Manager at Alivia Apartments in Whittier, CA

Nothing delights a property staff more than fostering a happy community. Even the simple things can enhance a resident’s experience — Like starting your morning with a Bagel Bonanza or celebrating a community anniversary with delicious treats and champagne.

BBQs & Fire Pits

Zara also says the grilling station is currently the favorite hangout at the community, because it’s perfect for any occasion while socially distancing and provides a great opportunity for new residents to get to know each other. At night it features well-lit string lights that illuminate the firepit, giving residents a much-needed dose of relaxation. Fairfield is proud to offer spaces that people want to be, like these fire pit courtyards at Opal Legacy Central in Plano, TX and Inwood Station Apartments in Dallas, TX.

Kid-Friendly and Pet-Friendly Amenities

If work-from-home and parties aren’t your thing, you can still connect like Greg, Colleen, and their twin toddlers do. Their toddlers think they rule Greg’s and Colleen’s lives, but it’s really Prince Frenchie Louie who does. Greg and Colleen balance office hours with trips to the on-site playground, then the dog park, then back to the playground, then to the dog washing and grooming station. Louie gets extra attention when he stops by the biscuit treat station in the leasing office. He has assumed the role of property mascot, and the toddlers love the added puppy-love.

This dog park with a pet station at North at Totem Lake and pet wash at Vero Apartments are purr-fect examples of pet-friendly apartment community amenities.

Apartment Community Amenities For Every Lifestyle

Resort-style Pools & Sun Decks

Take Jordan, Marissa, and Amy, for example: Jordan is a SoCal swimmer from way back while Marissa prefers to sunbathe. Both love the resort-style pool, spa, and sun deck with cabanas at their Fairfield community. With plenty of chaises and seating options, it’s easy to soak up the sun.

Atley on the Greenway in Ashburn, VA, Candara at Hancock Park in Los Angeles, Rize in Irvine, CA, and Pulse Millenia in Chula Vista, CA (pictured left to right) know what it means to offer resort-style amenities.

State-of-the-art Fitness Centers

On the other hand, their roommate Amy isn’t much of a sun worshipper, but she does take her fitness routine seriously. So, while Jordan and Marissa are enjoying the California sunshine, we often find Amy in our state-of-the-art fitness center. No wonder – her responsibilities as an ER nurse can be stressful, so the cardio and weight training exercises and the TechnoGym equipment help ease that stress. Plus, she joins some of the other residents in the flex fitness spin and yoga room that offers Fitness on Demand classes.

The Seaton in San Diego, Alivia in Whittier, CA, and Radiate in Redmond, WA (pictured from left to right) make it easy to stay fit!

Outdoor Gear Storage

Jake and his roommate Jack prefer to live in the “Bicycle Capital of the Northwest.” As avid outdoorsmen with a love of all things hiking, biking, and nature, their top apartment community amenity is a place to store their gear. So, when they found a Fairfield community with ample bike storage and a bike repair and wash station, they knew they had found home.

Both Morea Apartment’s bike room and Aspect at Totem Lake’s gear storage make it easy to keep up with your hobbies.

Games, Activities & More

We fondly remember one family whose high schooler helped select their community. After one look at the social lounge with plasma TVs, foosball, billiards and shuffleboard tables, the courtyard with ping pong table and another area with bocce ball court, The Cleveland’s couldn’t say no. Once his parents realized that a home is more than just what you create inside 4 walls, they took a broader look to see the opportunity in a co-working lounge (or shall we say homework lounge?) with computers and printers, and, of course, the ways in which they could create family fun right in their own backyard – complete with barbeque grills.

Speaking of fun, resident social lounges and courtyards often include other amenities such as tennis, pickle ball and basketball courts, or even a golf simulator. You might also find comfy private media and theater rooms with surround sound or plush gathering spots in front of fire pits.

The Reid in Tucker, GA, The Ian in Herndon, VA, Pulse Millenia in Chula Vista, CA, and DUO Apartments in San Jose, CA (pictured left to right) show off the wide variety of games and activities you might find included as on-site amenities.

Location, Location, Location

The more eclectic nature of Boston’s Chelsea neighborhood drew Jon to Vero Apartments. We know he’s a regular at the unique on-site eateries and shopping opportunities but the convenience of an on-site EV charging station makes it even easier for him to explore further destinations.

If you love the East Coast vibe, like Jon, and the up-and-coming is what attracts you, keep your sights set on The Moxley. Did you know that Fairfax, VA was recently recognized by Forbes as one of the top places to live in the nation? It’s just minutes from Washington, DC!

Maybe you crave life in the O.C. Check out Vita Apartments – right in the center of all Orange County has to offer. Can’t decide between urban or suburban living? Perhaps, you’ll find your heart in South San Francisco at Altitude, a commuter-friendly location perfect for adventurous residents who enjoy the abundant opportunities the Bay Area has to offer.

We know it can be hard to decide where you will feel most at home, but that’s why we meticulously select locations for our communities… because the right location is one of the biggest apartment amenities there is!
